Question
Why does the computer say "Closed by Restriction" when I try to register?
Answer(s)
Usually, one of the following three things is happening:
-
You are not in the Professional Engineering Program (PEP) but you are trying to register for an engineering class above 3000. You either need to be admitted to the PEP (/advising/pep.php) or given permission to take the class(es) (/advising/permission.php).
-
You are trying to register for a special topics class (e.g. mae 5930) and the department has to approve that (see Joan Smith or Kathy Bayn or email them).
-
At some time in the recent past (this semester or last) you registered for an extension class. Now you are coded an extension student in the computer and cannot register for regular on-campus classes. Go to the Registrar's office or see any of the Engineering Advisors to get that fixed.
