Math Skills Course Primer

This course covers equations of motion, kinetics of particles, kinetics of rigid bodies, work and energy, impulse and momentum, three-dimensional kinematics, and vibrations.
Math concepts to review:
1. Vectors
- splitting vectors into components
- magnitude of vectors
- unit vectors
- vector addition, integration, and differentiation
- dot product and cross product
vectors are used to describe the movement of particles and rigid bodies
differentiation and integration are used to analyze position, velocity, and acceleration of an object
2. Calculus and Differential Equations
- basic derivatives
- definite and indefinite integrals
- simple separable differential equations
- centroid & center of mass equations
3. Trigonometry
- trigonometry in 30 space
- using cartesian, polar, and normal-tangential coordinate systems
- trigonometric identities
trigonometry and polar coordinates are used to describe circular motion
systems of equations are used to analyze the acceleration of a body under various forces
