Sign into your USU account
USU MyID will help you with your A-Number, create or change a password, manage your email address and manage security settings.
Accessing Courses Online
Canvas is used to access your course and materials online.
Purchasing Supplies
The USU Campus Store can show you which materials are required and which materials are optional for each of your courses.
Library
Visit the library website to learn what services are provided for students.
Registration
Plan ahead and register early.
If you did not attend USU for your undergraduate degree, prerequisites for upper-level courses will need to be approved by the course instructor. Email the GPC the following information:
- The course you want to take.
- Course name of the prerequisite that you took at your previous university that satisfies MAE’s prerequisite.
- Syllabus for the prerequisite.
If you get a registration error, email the GPC with a copy of the error message you received.
Orientations
MAE student orientation is done one-on-one with the GPC when you arrive.
The School of Graduate Studies orientation gives you a good overview of university resources.
International student orientation has an online and in-person component.

Master’s degrees have three plan options
- Plan A - coursework and research culminating in a thesis.
- Plan B - coursework and a project culminating in a report.
- Plan C - coursework only.
Doctoral degrees have two options
- PhD beyond a Bachelor’s
- PhD beyond a Master’s
